The restoration and refinishing process starts by sanding the wood furniture. This process takes place in our sanding room where air sanders are attached to a ten-station dust collection system. Additional sanding is done by hand when necessary.
When it is necessary to strip wood we have a special sealed off strip tank that uses a flow-on process, wood pieces are never dipped. This process helps keep the integrity of the furniture intact. The piece stays strong and the joints don't weaken as they sometimes can when the dipping method is used.
After sanding and stripping the wood furniture, the furniture is evaluated for any structural repair that may be needed. Experienced technicians will make any necessary furniture repairs, carefully matching hardwood and using the most modern techniques. The furniture is then moved to the staining department where the appropriate color stain is meticulously applied to the furniture by hand.
At the central part of the wood shop is a sophisticated 14’x 28’ spray booth equipped with an assortment of spray guns. All furniture goes through a two-phase process. First one coat of sanding sealer is applied followed by one coat of pre-catalyzed lacquer. This process protects the wood furniture while providing an attractive appearance. |
